In his first comment following the tension with U.S. President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his gratitude to the American people.
In a post on X, Zelensky stated, “I thank the U.S. President, Congress, and the American people. Ukraine is striving for a just and lasting peace, and we are working hard towards that goal.“

Zelensky’s visit to Washington aimed to persuade the United States not to support Russian President Vladimir Putin, who ordered the invasion of Ukraine three years ago. However, the meeting between Zelensky and Trump ended unexpectedly after a heated verbal exchange between the two leaders in front of global media at the White House regarding the war against Russia.
Zelensky left the White House after this confrontation without signing an agreement that had been heavily promoted between Ukraine and the United States regarding cooperation in the development of natural resources.
