Chris Hughes, a beloved figure from the quiz show “Eggheads,” has sadly passed away at the age of 77, as announced on the show’s social media.

The official Facebook page for Channel 5’s “Eggheads” shared a heartfelt message on Thursday, February 27: “It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Eggheads great Chris Hughes.

Chris joined the show at its inception in 2003 and, over the next two decades, provided not just brilliant answers but also countless laughs and cherished memories. He truly loved being an Egghead and will be deeply missed by his Eggheads family.

A celebration of life service is set to take place at Crewe Crematorium on March 14, followed by a wake at a local pub. Those wishing to honor his memory are encouraged to donate to Cancer Research and the British Heart Foundation.

In the wake of the announcement, fans have been sharing tributes to Hughes. One fan expressed their sorrow, saying: “RIP Chris! You were one of my favorites on Eggheads ”
