The Brazilian Football Confederation has announced significant changes to the national team’s lineup in preparation for the upcoming matches against Colombia and Argentina in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. This decision comes after the exclusion of star player Neymar da Silva, who suffered a muscle injury.

Endrick Called Up

In a surprising move, young striker Endrick, currently with Real Madrid, has been summoned to replace Neymar, who was on track to return after more than a year out due to a knee injury. Endrick is considered one of the brightest rising talents in football, bringing excitement to Brazil’s squad.

Additional Changes in the Squad

In addition to Endrick, coach Dorival Junior has also called up Alex Sandro, a defender from Flamengo, to take the place of Danilo, and Lucas Perri, a goalkeeper from Olympique Lyon, to fill in for Manchester City’s Ederson.

Coach’s Statement

In an official statement, Dorival Junior said, “Over the past few days, we consulted the medical staff about the condition of all players, especially Neymar, Danilo, and Ederson. After evaluations, we decided to call up Endrick, Alex Sandro, and Lucas Perri.”

Brazil’s Position in the Qualifiers

Brazil currently sits in fifth place in the South American qualifiers with 18 points from 12 matches. They will host fourth-placed Colombia on March 21, before facing Argentina five days later.

World Cup Qualification

Brazil is aiming to secure one of the top six spots to qualify directly for the 2026 World Cup, which will take place in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

Brazilian fans are eagerly anticipating the team’s performance in these crucial matches, especially with the emergence of a new star like Endrick on the international stage.
