Delta Air Lines has announced that they will be providing compensation to passengers who were involved in the recent crash landing at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport runway.
According to reports, the airline has announced that 76 individuals will receive $30,000 each ,This decision follows the crash of Delta Flight 4819, which was operated by regional subsidiary Endeavor Air , The incident occurred on Monday, Feb. 17, while the flight was traveling from Minneapolis.

On Wednesday, Delta provided an update on the wreckage, mentioning that they had spent several hours coordinating with the Greater Toronto Airports Authority and Air Canada to successfully remove the damaged aircraft from the runway ,The Delta Care Team also stated that they were still in Toronto, working individually with affected customers and their loved ones to provide information and help with arrangements for accommodations, meals, transportation, and any other necessary support.
The airline is making every effort to ensure the safe and prompt return of passenger luggage ,Video footage depicts Delta Flight 4819 landing on an icy runway with snow covering the ground. During the landing, the aircraft overturned and caught fire before coming to a halt.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has previously stated that all 80 individuals on board the aircraft were successfully evacuated, Additionally, the FAA mentioned that the Transportation Safety Board of Canada will lead the investigation and will issue any further updates.
During a news conference on Tuesday, February 18th, Deborah Flint, President and CEO of Toronto Pearson, provided information about the crash, as reported by ABC 7.
According to Flint, on Thursday and Sunday, there was an accumulation of over 20 inches, which is equivalent to 50 centimeters, of snow ,This amount of snow is atypical and exceeds the total snowfall received in the entire previous winter.
During this time, there were numerous delays and cancellations in both Canada and the U.S. Northeast, leading to a high number of flight delays and backlogs ,The president and CEO emphasized the impact of these delays and cancellations on the region.
When asked if the weather could have played a role in the crash, Flint responded by saying, This would not be a time for us to have theory or to speculate.
Passenger Describes Disorienting Ordeal on Delta Flight 4819 :
Peter Koukov, a passenger on Delta Flight 4819, shared with CNN his experience after the airplane came to a standstill ,He described the sensation of being upside down, comparing it to hanging like bats, emphasizing the disorientation of the situation.,Koukov also mentioned that some passengers who were strapped in required assistance to get down from their seats.
